1923P.J. Keating Company is founded and begins as a manufacturer of Crushed Aggregate Products to the construction industry.
1930sIn the mid 1930’s, P.J. Keating begins Hot Mix Asphalt production at their first batch plant in Fitchburg, MA. In 1937 the company begins supplying ready-mix concrete as well.
1950sIn the mid to late 1950’s P.J. Keating Company relocates to its present location in Lunenburg, Massachusetts where Hot Mix Asphalt and Ready-Mix Concrete production facilities are constructed and quarrying and crushing operations begin.
1960sThe P.J. Keating Company enjoys steady growth during the 1960’s and is regarded as the premier supplier of construction earth products and pavement contractors in Central Massachusetts.
1978The P.J. Keating Company expands its market to the northeast with the acquisition of a Hot Mix Asphalt, Quarry and crushing operation from Essex Bituminous Company in Dracut, Massachusetts.
1988The P.J. Keating Company completes a sizeable and costly expansion to their crushing and ready mix concrete production facilities in Lunenburg, MA.
1994After several years of significant downturn in the state economy, affecting the construction industry, P.J. Keating Company is reorganized under partial ownership by Oldcastle Materials, a subsidiary of CRH out of Ireland. Under the new business plan, the ownership names John Keating as President.
1999P.J. Keating begins the process of consolidating operations with Tilcon / Capaldi, a Massachusetts and Rhode Island based construction materials company acquired as part of the 1996 CRH acquisition of Tilcon Inc. That same year Oldcastle becomes 100% owner of P.J. Keating.
2003P.J. Keating Company and Tilcon / Capaldi Inc. merge on January 1, 2003. The name of the newly merged company is P.J. Keating Company. This expands P.J. Keating’s market to include Southern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
2004James M. Reger is the newly named President of the P.J. Keating Company in January of 2004 with the elevation of John Keating to the role of Executive Vice President of Oldcastle Materials New England Division.
2007John Keating becomes President and COO of Oldcastle Materials’ Northeast, Central, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast Divisions.
2011Dan Stover is hired to become President of New England South. P.J. Keating names Jonathan Olson as General Manager.
2012Jonathan Olson becomes President of P.J. Keating
2016P. J. Keating becomes the leading supplier and installer of asphalt paving in Massachusetts.
2018The Oldcastle Materials name is phased out and replaced by CRH Americas. P. J. Keating is now branded as “A CRH Company”.
2021Derrick Hill becomes President of P.J. Keating
