In
an
effort
to
be
good
stewards
of
our
environment,
the
P.J.
Keating
Company
recycles
or
reuses
Reclaimed
Asphalt
Pavement
(RAP),
concrete
debris,
and
roofing
shingles
in
the
production
of
high
quality
roadway
construction
materials.
Through
our
recycling
program
P.J.
Keating
is
conserving
valuable,
non-renewable
natural
resources
and
landfill
space
by
putting
these
materials
to
best
use.
Below
is
a
brief
description
of
the
recycled
materials
accepted
at
P.J.
Keating
facilities:
Reclaimed
Asphalt
Pavement
(RAP)
–
Asphalt
pavements
(roads,
parking
lots,
driveways)
are
America’s
most
recycled
product
with
over
80%
of
the
pavement
removed
each
year
being
reused
in
various
forms
in
the
construction
of
new
asphalt
pavements.
RAP
is
typically
generated
through
milling
a
portion
of
the
pavement
structure
or
through
full
-
depth
removal.
P.J.
Keating
uses
in
excess
of
140,000
tons
of
RAP
each
year
in
the
production
of
new
Hot
Mix
Asphalt
that
is
supplied
to
both
State
and
private
projects.
P.J.
Keating
accepts
and
processes
RAP
at
our
Acushnet,
Dracut,
and
Lunenburg,
Massachusetts
and
Cranston,
Rhode
Island
facilities.
Recycled
Concrete
(K-Base)
–
Produced
from
concrete
debris
generated
during
the
demolition
of
existing
concrete
structures,
recycled
concrete,
or
K-Base,
is
an
alternative
graded
aggregate
product
for
use
as
a
base
material
under
Hot
Mix
Asphalt
(HMA)
pavement
or
as
the
surface
of
“gravel”
roadways.

Keating
accepts
concrete
debris
and
processes
K-Base
at
our
Acushnet
and
Lunenburg,
Massachusetts
and
our
Cranston,
Rhode
Island
facilities.
Roofing
Shingles
–
Asphalt
roofing
shingles
are
composed
of
the
same
basic
materials
used
in
the
production
of
Hot
Mix
Asphalt
(HMA)
,
namely:
aggregate,
asphalt,
and
filler.
The
use
of
roofing
shingles
in
HMA
and
roadway
base
products
can
enhance
these
products
through
improved
resistance
to
pavement
cracking,
resistance
to
pavement
rutting,
and
dust
reduction
(base
products).

accepts
and
processes
roofing
singles
from
Massachusetts
Department
of
Environmental
Protection
Licensed
operators
at
our
Lunenburg,
Massachusetts
facility.
